What Roomba isn’t: a full replacement for a high quality upright vacuum, although it comes close. What Roomba is: think of a power sweeper on steroids that runs by itself.
If you have regular flooring or low pile carpet, Roomba may be all you need to keep your floors looking clean. If you have high pile or shag carpet, you can expect Roomba to work on the surface dirt, but you’re likely to still use an upright vacuum every few weeks.
Roomba is intelligent and requires no real supervision. You just hit a button, walk away and basically Roomba will cover the whole floor area of your room. Rooms look freshly vacuumed, although the pile “lines” may not appear as neat as an upright; Roomba goes in many different directions, while most people tend to vacuum in straight lines.
Overall, well worth the money, especially if you have low pile carpets or regular flooring!
