I researched vacuum cleaners for a while before I decided on the Oreck XL Ultra. I couldn’t be more pleased with it!The feature that sold me most was it’s incredible portability. At just 8 pounds I can carry it all around the house with ease. When I tried other vacuums in the same price range, like the Dyson, they were so incredibly heavy. I could not imagine lugging them up and down stairs.
The Oreck XL Ultra is a powerful machine and cleans very well. The roller spins at a high RPM and really fluffs up the carpet. Most of the floors in our home are hardwood and tile, with various rugs over top. The Oreck glides easily between surfaces with NO adjustments necessary - it does this automatically so I don’t have to stop and adjust it several times in each room.
Changing the bag is quick, easy and very, very clean. I had a bagless vacuum before and it was always so messy emptying it. The Oreck bag seals itself as soon as you remove it so all the dirt stays inside the bag. It takes only seconds to replace it.
Because this vacuum is so lightweight, I don’t think it would stand up to much abuse. So, if you tend to bang into the walls and mouldings a lot, this machine may not be for you. Also, I find the light to be a bit too dim when the vacuum is in ‘floor’ setting. Otherwise I think this product lives up to every claim it makes.
