AWESOME - Rainbow Technologies E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum First of all I want to say I LOVE it !!!!! Well my husband and I were given a demo and it did not take us lon...

I never heard of the Rainbow before and didn’t realize that it had been around for many years until I read the reviews.

I was introduced to the Rainbow when my wife’s friend insisted on giving a demo and my wife agreed to it without my knowledge. Her purpose for the demo was to receive a shampooer. Only a couple of days before the appointment did my wife tell me. I was less than enthusiastic about the thought of a vacuum salesman coming over our house. On the day of their arrival, which I had forgot about, I was less than thrilled to see them and they probably sensed it by my expression and body language, at least my wife did. Anyhow, they started their dog and pony show or whatever and they brought out this vacuum cleaner with a plastic bowl and filled it with water. I have never seen a vacuum cleaner like this before so it kind of peaked my interest. I was expecting to see your typical upright vac on steroids with all the bells and whistles. I was amazed on how much more dirt it picked up, how much quieter and smoother it sounded, and it didn’t give off the smell of burning rubber from the belt like our current crappy $89.00 Dirt Devil vac. It didn’t look too pretty, but it seemed to perform well for me.

I also noticed that when I used the accessories on our Dirt Devil vac on our linoleum floor it actually would spit some hair and dust back out from under the vac and I can imagine it was doing this on our rug too, only I couldn’t see it. Exactly where all this hair was coming from I don’t know, but I do have a theory. I do know that the rollers under our vac would accumulate hair on it rather quickly that I would have to regularly use a scissor or knife to cut away all the hair (wife’s) caught on the roller to prevent the roller from rolling and eventually burning up the belt and I suspect some of this tangle hair on the rollers would loosen itself and come out from under the vac when the rollers were not activated. And you would know when a lot of hair was building up on the rollers because it gives off this wonderful smell of burning rubber, ahhh! Cutting out hairs caught on the rollers is not my cup of tea!

I was surprised by the many positive responses from the reviews I read despite the expensive price! Of course you have your typical negative responses, as well, (can’t make everbody happy, can you?), but their were far fewer than I thought. The majority of the negative responses I read were for knit picky things that were irrevelant, as far as I’m concerned. One person even had the stupidity to say that the Rainbow cleaned just about as good as their 89.00 Dirt Devil and went even further to say they bought another Dirt Devil at Walmart and gave their Rainbow to their daughter or something to that effect. What a bunch of crap! I own a $89.00 Dirt Devil and it doesn’t even compare to the Rainbow! We had it for about two years now and it is already falling apart. In fact the only difference with our $89.00 Dirt Devil and a more expensive non-Rainbow vac is that it may have headlights on it or it moves with only the slightest touch or the style may be fancy and colorful. Like I said, bells and whitles, who cares! When it comes to performance, there all the same, they suck and I don’t mean they suck dirt! Can’t even compare it to the Rainbow! Doesn’t even come close! The other whining I read about the Rainbow is that it’s too heavy (especially for cleaning stairs) or it’s a pain to change the water after every use! Please! Try having to regularly cut away all the tangle hair wrapped around the rollers and tell me if cleaning out the water is such a big deal. And for those that say it’s too heavy to clean the stairs, tell me exactly what vac is made easy to clean the stairs? That’s what those mini vacs are for, you ever heard of one?

I have not owned this vacuum long enough to say anything about it’s durability but from the reviews I’ve read and from what I see, it’s durable enough to last 20 or more years. More durable than any of those other lame vacs out there that I see.

The price was hard to swallow, as I’m sure it is for everyone else who bought one, but I believe it will pay off in the long run. It’s like when I went out searching for a car! I could of settled for a Yugo (do they still make these?), Daewoo, Escort, Neon etc, but I settled to pay more for quality, durability and performance. No difference in a vac, is it? Sometimes you get what you pay for! So stop whining about the price! Just kidding!
