Ok, I don’t usually buy expensive things until the price drops out a bit, but the magazine ad really got me.
I bought my floor mate at WalMart for $175. When I got it home, it only took a few minutes to put together, unlike my Hoover Elite vacuum which was really annoying to assemble. I love that one too, but that would be another review.
The biggest problem I had using the Floor Mate is that you do kind of have to read the instructions. After that, it was a snap.
I can clean all the hard floors in my house ( that’s about 800 square feet) on one filling of water - if I don’t wait too long between cleanings. Since I have read about some people being disappointed by the coverage, I will take this opportunity to mention that my house mostly has concrete floors. (Please keep your eyes open for my upcoming review on husbands that don’t finish projects…

I am mom to two big floppy dogs and a cat that shed an awful lot. I have found it much easier to run the vacuum over the floor before I get the floormate out. The fur does kind of stick in those little brushy things, and that part is yucky to clean. Otherwise cleanup is a snap - I just flush the dirty water.
One drawback I didn’t see mentioned in any other reviews is that this machine leaves a little to be desired around the edges… like against the kitchen cabinets. A little bit of Mr Clean before hand takes care of this.
The cleaning solution for this machine is expensive, but it really doesn’t use that much of it.
Two more things, just because I am really fussy. I was really surprised by how loud the machine is… and it really wants to be pushed slowly - the cleaning quality really nosedives if you try to rush it.
The best part of owning this machine is that everyone wants to “check it out” - my floors have never been cleaner.
