We have very light carpet (not white, but close) and a large black dog. Even the dribble from his mouth after drinking water makes spots on our carpet. This machine has cleaned everything that our dog has thrown at it.

Using “Resolve” apparently voids the warranty, but,we have been using this machine at our home and our rental properties for over two years with no problems. My wife’s opinion is that “Resolve” works better than the Oreck solution. Hint: Buy a case or two of the Oreck solution and keep the proprietary bottles. Refill them with “Resolve”.

My biggest problem is that these machines are classified as “Steam cleaners” They are not. Oreck, as well as all the others, do not use steam, they use several enzymes in the solution to breakdown the grime. If you have spots that need to be cleaned, use a spray bottle with whatever solution you choose, spray it down, let it sit for 5 min. and then use the machine over it. This will save a lot of money in cleaning solution.

I must admit that I have not used any other machines such as the Hoover which has scrubbers. But I would guess that the “scrubbers get clogged up with pet hair and the like. Oreck says to vacuum the carpet before the cleaning. You don’t have to. The vacuuming action of the Oreck is strong enough to suck up any pet hair without any clogging. Believe me, I’ve done it.
