Guys love gadgets. Guy hate housework. Roomba makes vacuuming fun by making it so you don’t have to be there while you’re doing it. Trouble is, it’s fascinating to watch, so even though I can leave, I end up watching the Roomba do its thing.
Roomba is an intelligent cordless vacuum cleaner that automatically cleans carpets and bare floors without that annoying pushing it back and forth thing. In fact, you don’t even have to be there while you’re doing it — it finds walls, turns and even shuts off on its own. Just charge it up overnight and let it do the dirty work. Weighing only around three pounds, it’s easy to carry and is interesting to look at even when it’s not in use.
It’s got three room sizes, a device to give the appearance of a “virtual wall”, and a brush to get next to walls. Roomba initially goes in a spiral pattern until it decides to go find the nearest wall. From there, it has a bumper/sensor that turns it slightly whenever it catches a wall or obstacle. The little sucker (no pun intended) can even sneak under couches, if there’s a four inch or so clearance. Try that with a normal vacuum.
I got mine as a gift and I love it. Who knew? Now if they can make something that takes the trash out automatically!
