When I decided to buy a new vacuum I was totally fed up with my old Bissell piece of crap, bag and all! I had just bought a shampooer and did not want to pay a lot for a vacuum but wanted something that would just pick up the dirt!
One day I got desperate as I have a long haired cat and a dog and the hairs were just piling up on the floor. I drove down to Kmart and looked at what my options were. I only wanted to pay 100.00 max, as I had just got done spending 200.00 on a shampooer there only a few days prior!
After looking at all my options I chose the Dirt Devil because:
1. Display looked good, had all the features I wanted.
2. Priced on sale for $89.00. (After reading other reviews some of you paid way too much for your Dirt Devils!)
3. Was priced 70.00 cheaper than it’s comparable Hoover competition. Hoover model was exactly the same, they all run on 12 amps. But the Hoover was price WAY too much.
THANK THE LORD I ONLY PAID 89.00 for this stupid thing!
It does pick up the dirt. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! The attachments are your normal generic hose and some brush thing, which works great on my stairs and furniture cleaning up all that hair.
This vacuum though, is made so chinsey and cheap I feel like if I pick it up a piece of the plastic could fall off!
As for the swivel legs! What a pain. I can push the vacuum fine on the carpet when the vacuum is ON. If the vacuum is turned off it is impossible to push the darn thing! I have to pick it up and carry it. It is like the legs don’t want to “roll”.
Anyways, for what I paid it works fine. I think Dirt Devil could put a little more “effort” into not making such a chinsey product! Come on. Oh, also the stupid canister that holds the dirt? It is impossible once you take it off to put it back in. It does NOT just click back into place. You have to wiggle, shove, get on your knees, look into it, line it up and finally “click” and it’s in and even then it doesn’t LOOK like its on right you just hope so. Oh, and then dumping the dirt out? I learned my lesson, either go in your garage or outside and dump the dirt into your garbage can because dirt, dust and god knows what else flies all over the place. Dirt Devil says “just tap the canister against your garbage can and empty the canister”, sorry it’s a little more messed up than that!
Next time I am definately going to do more research when buying my next vacuum and not be in such a rush to do so.
Thanks for listening and I hope this review helps.
