I’ve had my Dyson DC14 for a week now and we purchased it after reading the reviews here at Epinions and other online review sites.

I really choked on the price, but our 6 year old Dirt Devil MVP Ultra finally gave up for good and with a kid and 6 cats, we needed something that would WORK!

Cost

It’s a LOT, but worth it!

Our 8 yr old Dirt Devil finally died completely, and I needed a new vacuum right away with a lot of company coming for the holidays. I bought one locally and got a great deal at Kohl’s. They were on sale for $549 and I had a 15% off coupon for any item, so it was $466 plus tax.

Assembly

It couldn’t be simpler! I followed the instructions in the manual and had the machine assembled and ready to use in about 15 minutes - and that included moving the box and other packaging outside!

Functionality

Remember, we have 6 cats who come and go as they please through the cat door.

I started with the living room and vacuumed the 10×16 oriental rug and its pad. The vacuum sucked up so much fur, dirt, and sand that I had to empty it after just cleaning the rug! Same story with the rest of the room, including furniture.

In fact, each room I vacuumed filled up the dirt container and I had to empty it between rooms. The first day we had it, after doing the living room, family room, 2 flights of carpeted stairs, and my daughter’s carpeted room, I had filled a 5 gallon bucket with cat hair and dirt.

I tried it in the kitchen using the hose and the floor attachment and it sucked 2 pieces of linoleum off the floor! (It’s old and needed replacing, but still, it was pretty impressive)

Anyone who has kids and/or inside pets will love this machine. It’s lightweight and I can easily carry it up and down stairs with just one hand. The attachments took about a day to get used to and you’ll spend a bit of time growling at the hose attachment until you learn how to use it.
