Frequent repair needed

I bought this Oreck about three years ago, because of the ads. it replaced a Hoover, which was a real workhorse. The Oreck is light weight, and it cleaned well for a year. Well, except … I have cats and dogs. After the first year it started clogging up. So far, I’ve been taking it in for cleaning twice a year.
I asked the Oreck repair shop if I should have another vacuum, but they said all the Orecks were essentially the same. That doesn’t sound right. I emailed Oreck, but absolutely no response - very unimpressive.
I’m resigned to having it cleaned twice a year, but my neighbor has a Bissell which I use on occasion. It really cleans well, so I may sell the Oreck and buy a Bissell. Morale of the story - if you have small cleaning needs, buy an Oreck. Otherwise, get something else.

Were its used and on what: I have an older home thats halfway through remodeling, 8 carpeted room, 1 wood and 1 tile. Ive also got 3 inside dogs (1 Long hair), and 4 cats.
After getting the Oreck out of the box I was a bit skeptical of it’s cleaning becasue of it’s light weight. I was definatly wrong there, the first time I used it I noticed that it did a great job cleaning and picking up all the animal hair, dust and dirt from sanding. The carpet had a fluffy brushed nap apperance it had lost shortly after install. The light weight made it pretty much effortless cleaning.
After that I used it on the bare floors, it did an impressive job, no scattering dust or kitty litter anywere, it just picked it all up.
Overall it’s an excellent cleaner and very easy to use. It fits well under a bed or low furniture. I dont mind using it every day due to its light weight.

We heard the commericals on how great this little light weight cleaner was and decided it was the vaccum for us. It was great the 1st week and even into the 2nd month but little by little we have found that it no longer makes us smile. What it does do tho is shock us,yup I said shock us every time we use it.We had company coming and decided that we had to do something,we had put it off as long as we could.I grabbed my oreck and went to work trying to vaccum trying to bite my tongue so as to not scream at the top of my lungs.My husband finally unplugged it cause he said he saw sparks flying in the handle. He took over with a pair of gloves.He lasted a whole 20 seconds,said a few words under his breath and got the small vaccum they sent us for free to try and finish the job. We are now thinking of getting a rainbow and have called the oreck company to complain but have yet to hear back from them.

after years of buying new vacuums every 18 months, we decided to give that Oreck guy on TV a try and buy one of his a pound Oreck XL vacuums. We ordered online and received a canister vacuum and a 12 V car vacuum free. The order process was easy, and problem free.
The vacuum arrived a week later. Putting the vacuum together was a breeze and took only five minutes. It is truly as light as they advertise and is a breeze to push around the house. Its performance is top-notch, whether in tight corners, under beds or tables, or in the wide-open of my living room the Oreck simply outperforms all other vacuums I have owned. With no adjustment necessary to go from carpeting to laminate floor, this vacuum is a time saver. Using the vacuum one a laminate floor does not result in the dirt and debris just being flung around the room.
The warranty and service offered with the vacuum offers an extra piece of mind to the buyer who is used to their vacuums breaking every 18 months.

My wife and I bought the Oreck vacuum cleaner after trying multiple bagless vacuum cleaners and being disappointed with everyone of them within a couple of weeks after buying them. This has turned out to be the best $400 we ever spent. With three girls, one boy, three dogs and a cat, we know how messy our carpet can get. The bagless simply gave up after a while. But, the Oreck picked up everything. The amazing thing was that we were so used to doing a VERY throrough cleaning of the vacuum after one use that we tipped it back to clean the brushes and they looked like nothing touched them - the suction was that good!!!
