I bought a Dyson DC 14 Animal less then 2 years ago. We have a very furry dog and a cat, I was impressed by the reviews I’d read. For the first year it worked okay. The wand was a little frustrating to get out and then put back every time I wanted to vacuum the floor boards. Then the belt of the vacuum broke, you know the one that is not supposed to break. I called Dyson customer service and they told me I’d have to buy a whole new clutch (hundreds of dollars depending on where you get it). I feel that I paid a lot of money for this vacuum and customer service should have been more helpful for a belt that wasn’t supposed to break in the first place. However, since the vacuum was older then one year, they weren’t helpful. I find that the dog hair gets wrapped around the beater brush, and I have to clean it every time after vacuuming, cutting the hair wrapped around the brush and pulling it out. Yesterday I did my usual daily vacuuming and was getting more frustrated with the Dyson, as I felt my carpets really weren’t getting clean. I went out and bought a Bissell, for pet hair, vacuumed again when I got home…I had to empty the container 4 times by the time I was done vacuuming, remembering I had vacuumed several hours prior to buying the new vacuum!! I wouldn’t recommend this vacuum to anyone with long haired fluffy pets.
