When I received the steam wizard, I expected ‘magical’ results. However, despite not living up to my expectations, it did still impress me enough to recommend the product.

It was about a month ago I spilled some Tom Yum Soup (Thai Food) on my carpet. I dried it with several rolls of paper tower, however, when it dried, the carpet became crusty, and still a hint of the soup that was suppose to be in my stomach (I spilled it all). When I ran through that area with the steam wizard a few times, the smell of the soup immediately returned, and it was obvious the steam was breaking it down for me. It took me several runs though, because the steam wizard lacks the power to completely dry the carpet. However, after waiting for the carpet to dry, and re-steam-wizzing it a few times, it eventually did the job. I feel if the vacuum was strong enough, it woulda completed the job the first time.

So another consequence of not having enough suction power is the fact that it leaves the carpet damp. On dry surface, the steam wizard sucks up messes no problem though.

Another problem the steam wizard faced was the fact that it weighs a ton. It’s actually not so much it’s ‘heavy’, but the weight isn’t evenly distributed. The water reservoir is in the back, and the majority of the weight is not in front. So trying to tilt the steam wizard forward to vacuum and steam really requires effort. I found myself using two hands to vacuum, and it made me feel really wussy.

However, all weaknesses aside, you can beat this package. You cannot get a better handheld wet/dry steam vacuum anywhere.
