I bought my Euro-Pro HEPA Shark about 33 days ago. I was in need of a vacuum cleaner and went to the store. They didn’t have the kind I wanted, but this one caught my eye and was on sale, so I bought it. I had also seen commercials/infomercials about Sharks and they seemed to be great. I brought it home and tried it out and was not overwhelmed. I was underwhelmed. I didn’t feel like it had very much power, even though the box said it could pick up 2 bowling balls at once. I have used it about 6 times since owning it and I am trying to decide what to do with it. My biggest complaint is that the carpet attachment doesn’t pick up the carpet fibers. Even my last vacuum, a 10 year old Hoover that I bought at a garage sale for $5 did a better job. But it burned up finally. This vacuum (the Euro-Pro) seems to clean the top of the carpet, but nothing deeper than that. The carpet is now lying flat in heavy traffic places and even right after I vacuum you can’t tell. I like to be able to tell the carpet is clean. Also, I lose a lot of my hair (long hair) and expect the vacuum to handle that fairly well. However, the carpet brush was clogged with hair almost immediately. I sat down tonight and cut it out with scissors and then started vacuuming; it wasn’t picking up crumbs on the carpet, so I picked up the beater and felt to see how fast/strong it was moving. And it wasn’t moving at all! I am very disappointed with this vacuum. I would recommend it for a small apartment or motorhome or for hardwood or tile floors only, but it doesn’t handle carpet (especially high-traffic) well at all.
I think I’ll chalk it up to experience and go buy something I know will perform. Another Hoover? Keep an eye out for those at garage sales—a great buy!
