I was pretty excited about getting a new vacuum, since mine was a hand off from my mother and I alone had it for 8 years. I did a lot of research and found that dyson is the only one that gives pretty consistant rave reviews. I tried finding something that was cheaper but nothing stood up customer ratings-wise. I cleaned my entire house today, emptying the bin twice!! Yuck! It was put together in a snap, literally. Handles well and and the pet hair grabber does what it should. I have a dog and two cats, one with long hair that leaves clumps all over the house. It seems to ‘bounce’ when you hit something, so I don’t feel like i am going to break it if it hits my table legs or something. I was impressed. The only thing that I did have difficulty manuvering was the rod when doing edges. And I totally have to get used to the suction coming on in the rod when you put the vacuum upright. I really like it, no bags and no filters to ever buy, works great. I think i would like it better if the cost was about 1/2 as much though.
