We have owned this for 2 years, purchased after reading strong reviews here. (I can’t figure how people LIKE this thing…) Early on, we learned we are not canister people, I guess. The motor does not merrily follow as you clean, but stubbornly resists your efforts to move along. You can’t back up unless stopping to retrieve the power cord and push the motor unit away. Gad. The vacuum cleans well enough, but the thing is cheap. The light bulb is a neat feature, but goes out with enthusiasm. Seems any jar with the power unit breaks the filament, or there is something wrong with the voltage causing filament to break. Whatever, after replacing it 6+ times, I gave up. The beater bar is wood and plastic. Hair seems to wind around this a lot and requires picking at it to remove. Somehow, the physics of the two materials fight each other such that the wheels (the plastic part) melted - necessitating a repair trip (but still under warranty then). Next came the belts breaking - several times. More repair work. Finally, the plastic (its all plastic) collar that attaches the arm (ok…, this is metal)to the power head cracked, making the whole thing unusable. The repair shop person nodded grimly at hearing this, and said these Kenmores are famous for this malady. I will fix it one more time before it sees action on Craigs List.
