Overall very happy with Hoover Floormate - Hoover Floormate H3000 Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum Although pricey, I feel this is a very good appliance. I like that you don't push dirty water around like mopping ...

There are people who enjoy cleaning. Then there are people who enjoy having a clean house, so they grudgingly clean their house and dream of having someone else do it. I belong to the second group. Honestly, there are only two things I refuse to do: toilets and floors. I threaten to leave my boyfriend every once in awhile if he doesn’t clean the toilet, but the floors are another story. There was always so much involved. You have find the mop and bucket, then hunt down the floor stuff and mix it all up. But the party doesn’t actually start until the scrubbing begins.

I have tried all the other cheaper solutions (Swiffer Wet Jet,etc), but only found that they don’t actually get the floor clean enough. Great for quick jobs, but actual scrubbing was still required.

My boyfriend scored HUGE points when he brought the Floormate home. He had already cleaned all the hard floors, so I had no clue how to use it. He gave me a basic run through, but he was wrong. So the first time I used it, I was a bit disappointed. But the second (when I realized how to actually use it), I was thrilled. All it really entails is mixing the solution, placing it in the chamber, and turning it on. Everything else is pretty self-explanatory. You don’t even have to sweep anymore! It has a dry pickup. It’s not spectacular, but it gets the job done.

So how do you use it? It’s quite simple. First, you can use it to sweep. It’s pretty much like using a vacuum on the hard floor. After that, you do a wet scrub (after loading the appropriate cleaning solution/water mixture). You have to pull the trigger to release the cleaning solution, but this allows you to use as little or as much as you think an area needs. Once the scrubber brushes are done doing their job, all you do is switch back to pickup mode and suck up all the wet stuff left on the floor. It does actually leave the floor quite dry.

I know you’re saying there must be something wrong with this product. You’re right. It’s a bit bulky, so if I need to clean up something that’s under the oven more than it can reach, I’m doing it by hand. By in all actuality, I would have the same issue with most mops. The other problem is that it is very loud. I like to play music while doing chores, so this device (like a vacuum) requires headphones or no one else in the house so you can really blast the music loud.

If you’re considering purchasing this product, then hopefully, you’ve got the extra cash to spend on it. It’s come down quite a bit in price, so it’s a lot more affordable, but it’s still a pretty large purchase for mopping. But if you’re like me and was buying a brand new mop nearly every time you mopped, it may be worth it. So to review, it will:

1) Make mopping/sweeping a lot easier.

2) Empty your wallet a bit more than traditional mops.

It will NOT:

1) Force any household males who did not previously mop to start.

2) Run itself.

All in all, I consider it worth the money. It makes something I used to dread a LOT easier and I’m finished in half the time.
