I choose the Dirt Devil SwivelGlide because I wanted an inexpensive vacuum that had a bag. This is hard to find anymore but I would rather change the bag more often than mess with all kinds of filters which I have to clean or replace. I just purchased this vacuum about a month ago and have been very happy with it so far. I have had many vacuums including a Rainbow, Kirby and Hoover and I have learned not to spend a fortune on any vacuum because they never last long enough to be worth what I paid for them. I loved my old Wal-Mart Hoover and it was the cheapest of all the vacuums I have purchased, but when it finally gave out I went shopping for an inexpensive light weight vacuum and ended up purchasing the Dirt Devil SwivelGlide. This vacuum is very light and has a very long cord. It is easy to push and because of the swivel wheels on the back it is very easy to maneuver. It has a 13.0 volt light on the front to illuminate your vacuuming path.
Out of The Box
This vacuum comes practically ready to use right out of the box. I just had to attach the top of the handle with two screws and the bag was already in place and ready to go. There are several wand attachments for cleaning above the floor which include a brush attachment, extension wand and narrow tool attachment for those tight corners. These are all stored on board which is very convenient and easy to use. The cleaning hose is always attached to the vacuum and has a grip handle on the suction end which you just pull out of the suction tube and use in one easy motion. Suction with these attachments is pretty good for an inexpensive vacuum and always at its best with a new bag installed. The brush attachment is right on board and convenient to grab and use with the five foot soft suction hose.
This Dirt Devil cleans with 12 Amps of power and has, as I said, pretty good suction for an inexpensive vacuum.
It is much quieter than the Hoover that I had, even the kids noticed the difference.
Looks
This vacuum came in a very attractive Maroon and Black color and is not too bulky. It is very easy to store.
Price
I purchased this vacuum at Wal-Mart for $48.96. It was one of the cheapest vacuums displayed but it had the features I wanted, i.e. bag, Amps, lightweight, cord length.
Changing the bag
This couldn’t be easier with this model. The bag container is a hard case and pops open with the touch of a lever. I like bags because they are inexpensive compared to some filters and you just throw them away and put in a new one. There is an indicator light on this vacuum that lets you know when the bag is full.
