Worst Vacuum I Ever Bought

I purchased my Hoover Windtunnel 2 Vac in the Spring of 2007. I have the original Windtunnel 1 upright at my business and I love it. This new one, however, is a BIG PIECE OF CRAP!!! The HEPA filter does NOT clean itself, you have to brush it out or clean it with another vacuum cleaner. The power tools constantly fall out of their sockets when stored, and the clip to hold the hose broke off within the first month. My advice, GET A BAG FILTER!!! They are a lot less messy and when you empty the bag, the dirt is gone! Not so with this model. I only wish I had returned it before the warranty was up.

Cons: Beater brush assembly is poor design destined for costly failures.
Unit is only two years old and I have had to replace beater brushes once already about a year ago. Not because the brushes wore out, but because the bearings that carry the brushes gave out and got hot and the plastic of the brushes and their end housing melted together. Now that has happened again plus one of the plastic gears in the beater brush drive transmission has gotten hot and melted to it’s housing making it unusable. Replacement part is $64 not including labor. Even though I could do the work myself I am not going to bother fixing it. The rest of the vacuum works as it should but the beater brush assembly is a poor design that fails early and often. Don’t buy this one.

This Vacuum has poor suction, and it is falling apart despite of the fact that I haven’t had it that long. The only reason I purchased the vacuum was because my physician recommended that I purchase a vacuum with a HEPA filter. As a result, I choose this vacuum. Well, what a mistake! I have had nothing but “problems” with it. It is a piece of junk! When I called Hoover and advised them of my plight, they virtually ignored me. Instead, they advised me to take it into a service center. What kind of customer service is that? If this is how Hoover stands behind their products, which are not made very well to start with, I would strongly advise that you don’t buy Hoover because I will not again!!!

Bad News Vacuum!

I’ve had my Windtunnel V2 for about 3 years now. Every year has been worse. It’s been in the shop twice for repairs costing over 100 dollars. Always clogged, always breaking. I have to sweep the carpet before vacuuming because I’m afraid this thing will break again. Best bet…off to buy a cheaper more durable machine.

I’ve owned this vacuum for 3 years now, and have spent almost as much money in replacement parts as I have on the vacuum itself. The brushes/bearings are made to wear out within a year or less. They’re made using a steel retainer inside a plastic housing. The housing often heats up to the point of melting, which leaves the steel retainer to spin freely inside the housing. This effectively leaves the brushes completely useless, as they will no longer spin when the vacuum is turned on. I’ve had to replace all 4 brushes and both bearing caps 3 times now! I’ve also had to replace the easy to break plastic hand tool door, the handle release foot lever, the brush activation microswitch, and even the motor housing due to the amount of times I’ve had it apart! (It’s not made to be removed too many times. The mounting screws strip out the plastic after a couple servicings).

Cons: Gear housing made cheaply to break within a year.
After 7 months of use the gear housing (a plastic disc with metal shaft inside to turn it) broke.
I would not recommend this product!
Unfortunatly this vacuum cleaner was in storage during a move so we had only used it for 7 months but had owned it for 13 when the piece broke. That means the warranty was void. We paid $270 for it. What a waste of money!!!
