The Hoover Agility is simply the best steam vac that I have ever used! I have used the Bissell Pro Heat for the past five year and never felt that it cleaned as well as I would have liked. Upon receipt of the Agility, I used it the next day was extremely satisfied by comparison. We have two terriers who do not wipe their feet and the Agility has performed expertly in cleaning up muddy paw prints on the carpet and tile floors. The Agility is quick and easy to prepare for cleaning and equally quick and easy to clean once you have completed steam cleaning. Would highly recommend!

Decent Machine but STEAM?

I’ve had this machine for about 2 years. It does a pretty decent job. Better than most other cleaners I’ve owned. I bought this model because of the word “steam” in it’s name. I thought it was broken at first since there wasn’t any actual steam. You put hot water in the tanks… and that’s as hot as it gets. Warm air from the motor is redirected toward the cleaning brushes in a lame attempt to dry the carpet (yeah, like that’s going to make much of a difference). So don’t be mislead by steam. There is none! But is is a pretty well design machine. The tanks are easily filled/emptied. Not to heavy. The hand tool is great since it also has rotating brushes (unlike most other cleaners). Unfortunately, a lot of the parts are made from clear plastic that easily breaks. I’ve already made a lot of “superglue” repairs. I would recommend this product although I would also recommend looking at other cleaners. Since there’s no steam, it’s really no different than any other carpet cleaner on the market. Seems like models without the word “steam” in the name are a little cheaper.

After reading all of the reviews I decided to try this cleaner and have been fairly happy since then.

Cheap Plastic? If you want to spend two to four times as much why don’t you just buy a professional cleaner? Most people want the least expensive tool that does the best job, this is it.

Doesn’t suck up the solution? The owners manual will tell you how to remove the clear front cover for cleaning, it will not warn you that the cover is easily re-installed improperly which will cause loss of suction. If it doesn’t seem to be sucking up at least one-half to three-quarters of the solution, check the front cover for proper installation. It can look like it is on correctly but closer inspection will show that it is not in the correct grooves.

Not a STEAM CLEANER? Correct, its just a hot (tap)water rinse, however you can heat the water on the stove to just below boiling and it will take it. (The manual advises against this but it worked for me with no problems.)

i am gonna keep this short & sweet. i absolutely love this machine! you open the box and use it. no confusing directions or assembly required. it works like a dream. two tanks, one with clean water(detergent)& one with all the filth you sucked up. carpets dried quickly & looked like new again. i was shocked to see what was hiding in my carpets. i have exorcised the demons!!!!!!!

We bought it a couple of months ago and never used it. Decided to use tonight. There was no suction. The cleaner would put out water, but not suck it back up. The recovery tank remained bone dry. We took it apart and cursed Hoover the entire time. Went online looking for answers. Nothing.

We finally found our problem. Nowhere in the instruction manual does it say you cannot leave the hose attached when using the deep cleaner. Unplugged the hose and “voila!”

We cleaned two rooms and the emptied the recovery tank four times w/ dirty water. I couldn’t believe how much dirt and dust was in my carpet.

I’m pleased with the purchase of this Hoover Agility SteamVac. It cleans the carpet rather well, and is easy to use. The design is simple and elegant.

Some (minor) negatives: Filling the solution tank can get messy if you use the built-in measuring cap for the cleaning solution. You may have to fill the solution tank often (depending, one tank = half-to-one room’s worth of carpet cleaning). May required quite a few passes to sufficiently moisten the carpet to deep clean.

Nonetheless, this is a very good product and well worth getting if you have pets. After the first few uses, we already made up the cost of purchasing this product (compared to professional carpet cleaning).

Don’t Waste Your Money

This product is worthless!

It takes 3 tanks of clean water to fill the dirty water tank because it doesn’t suck water up like it should. This means 2 of every 3 tanks of water are left in the carpet, regardless of how many times you go over it.

I usually have to bend down and turn it on and drop the handle by hand because my foot slips off of the rounded foot pedals.

The water tanks don’t stand up on their own in the sink, you have to hold them while they are filling or they fall over, and it takes some work to get them back into the machine.

The tiny filter in the empty water tank area gets clogged an average of 5 times per clean water tank and you have to stop constantly, take out the dirty water tank, and clean the filter.

In comparison with other products I’ve used…it takes twice as long to clean the carpet and it is still dirty when done.

After borrowing a similar Hoover Steam Vac from a friend, we decided to purchase one for ourselves (a necessity with 1 dog and 2 cats in the house). This product is a definite thumbs-up! I use it on all the carpeted floors as well as the hardwood, in fact, nothing else seems to get the hardwood looking cleaner.

I like the idea of the see-through canisters, especially for the solution side. The rotating brushes really seem to pull up the *junk*, every time we use it we have to clean the pet hair from them so we know it is working. The majority of the water is pulled back up out of the carpet, so in 1-2 hours even a carpeted floor is nearly dry.

The only thing about this model I would change is the location of the power cord (definitely NOT a deal-breaker for buying it though). It’s located on the back side down at the bottom and tends to get in the way, especially when you are pulling back on the unit. Other than that, I love it!

I have 3 big indoor dogs and 2 kids, 5 & 9. I used to use a Bissell Pro-heat but the solution leaked out and then the suction quit working. I didn’t have the thing but a year and a half. I have been using Rug Doctors ever since. I bought this Hoover Agility after reading the reviews here and used it today with GREAT results. I am shocked that such a light weight inexpensive cleaner can do such a great job. I hope it lasts longer than the Bissell but for now I am very happy on how well it works.

I bought this product because it was reviewed as a good product. Unfortunately, the brushes have stopped working and I can’t get anyone to tell me why or to tell me how to fix them. I have called and emailed. Their customer services is very bad.

which is a terrible thing for a carpet cleaner not to do.

Our first carpet cleaner was a Kenmore that lasted about 10 years and did a great job. It was big & unwieldy though.

Then we bought a Hoover, which also did a great job and lasted at least 5 years.

Then we bought this machine. It’s by far the worst. It lasted about 18 months, but never did work right.

The tanks won’t stand up in the sink, THERE’S NO STEAM, and it would barely suck up any water on regular carpet. Forget about rugs–they were left sopping wet.

Ours is in the shop now waiting for us to decide if we want to spend another $100 on it. I’m thinking–NO. It was a mistake from the beginning.

Water return hose split

We purchased this steamvac less then a year ago and after relatively light use, four or five area rugs, the water return hose spilt. This hose is internal to the unit and enclosed in the base so I believe it has to made of defective or very cheap materials.

Early deterioration of the solution side grommet made a horrible mess.

Positive It handles well and has great suction. Both tanks are easy to remove and replace.
Cons: I used the machine once and then placed it in a closet.

I purchased the machine locally and had the opportunity to feel the maneuverability while in the store. It was nice to have a product that didn’t need assembly. About six months later I attempted to use the machine again and found that one of the rubber grommets which the tanks fit into was deteriorated, and the solution flooded the floor. I called the manufacture and was informed that they would replace the grommet as long as I had the model number, serial number and receipt with the date of purchase. I told them I didn’t know where the receipt was and could only estimate the date of purchase. Results is I have to purchase the grommets myself at a $2.99 price tag each. They found a store that carried the grommet in stock about six miles from me. I’ll probably stock up on them to save me the trip in the future.

I just bought the Agility at Best Buy for $199. I figure I’ve spent that much in cleaning products over the years and have had to get down on my hands and knees to clean the spots. This unit is terrific! It was out of box and being used within 15 minutes of getting it home. I had my whole condo done in about an hour and a half. It is easy to maneuver, sucks up the dirt, and leaves the place smelling clean and fresh. It won’t leave the carpets too wet as long as you don’t shoot out tons of water. Clean-up of the unit is also pretty simple; I had to pull pretty hard on the bottom nozzle piece to pop it off for

cleaning but other than that, it’s just about perfect. I haven’t tried the upholstery attachments yet, but I’m sure they will be great too!! Some people might complain that it’s made of plastic…well, what do they want? A heavy unit to lug around from room to room? If you take care of it, it’ll take care of you, in my opinion. This SteamVac is worth every penny!!! Thanks Hoover!!!

TAKING IT BACK; WORTHLESS

I have bought Hoover products before–they always seem to do a good job, but durability has always been a problem–but I thought I’d give them one more chance with this carpet shampooer. I was not impressed; and frustrated to say the least. Suction quality was poor; my carpet still felt very wet after running vacuum over dampened area a number of times. The soap solution tank had half of the water out of it after I cleaned the carpets, e.g. approximately 1/2 gallon therefore, but the collection tank only had approx. 1 cup of dirty water returned-no wonder my carpets still felt wet! Plus, I noticed that I kept getting globs of dirt and goo here and there as I shampooed (and yes, I dry vacuumed prior to cleaning) and found that the brushes were just blowing the dirt around and flinging it everywhere instead of sucking it up.

Ok…so here’s the profile. Three kids (in sports), two big dogs, two busy parents. Needless to say, an enormous amount of foot and paw traffic in the family home. I thought I was doing a good job vacuuming until I purchased this yesterday and tried it out. OMG. I couldn’t believe the stuff that came out of the carpet. It was SOOOOO worth the money. Even the doghair clogging the brushes repeatedly just pointed out to me that there was THAT MUCH in my carpet. So big deal - messy to clean up, yes, but I am sure the first time is worse than the maintenance. Either way, the carpet came out softer than when we’ve had it professionally done, and it dried very quickly.

Having two big dogs our carpets get a lot of abuse. Just one pass over the carpet in the living room made it look brand new. The unit is easier to use than a vacuum and it’s simple to clean also. Using it to do the living room, made we want to do all the carpets in the house. Used to have an old brand “X” cannister type and was a real pain to use. I used to hate having to clean the carpet. This one is a breeze.
