When I first brought this vacuum home I used it on an area that I had just swept with our older vacuum. You would NOT BELIEVE what it picked up. I was really amazed. The nifty see-through container really lets you see what you are getting. I thrive on this sort of positive feedback.
The way this works is that the stuff it picks up goes into a main container. There is a mesh filtering divider between this half and the other side to get rid of the BIG stuff. On the other side is the hepa filter which catches basically everything else. There is a 3rd filter in case anything gets by the hepa, but we’ve had it for 6 months and that one is still sparkling clean.
I was not as pleased on our hardwood floors. One of the main things that I want to suck up is kitty litter and this vacuum tends to shoot the little pieces right out the sides (at a stinging rate of speed, I might add). Because of this, I have had to always sweep before I vacuum. Also the mesh between the two canister halves tends to get caked up with the kitty litter dust.
The tools are all on-board and this is nice. The cord hanger on the back could be better — it tends to wobble and drop the cord.
