As the name suggests, Dry Chemical Carpet Cleaning is fairly dry. There is almost nothing wet involved. A number of people in the business believe that to be a problem, one thing that can be agreed on is that it is quickly started, quickly finished, and quickly traversable again. It is good for virtually every type of carpet. This method is usually best for high traffic places, usually public, such as stores, or churches, if not used with periodically with deep cleaning processes. But if only used on it’s own, it should be used in places where children are unlikely to play on it, as some residue may remain.
The process of dry chem. cleaning is fairly simple. Where there is deep dirt and soil, a pre-conditioner is usually added to loosen so the chemicals can do their job properly. After that the chemicals themselves, (these are most commonly a cleaner not unlike laundry detergent and a weak acid or basic solution) is dusted into the carpet and then worked deeper with a brushing machine. To assure the mixture is fully worked into the carpet fiber, the brush is usually used a number of different times over the surface of the carpet to different directions. Next, a drying period takes place (usually no more than an hour, depending on the brand) and then the entire floor surface is vacuumed. This process should get almost all soils out of your carpet, but if not, the entire process can be repeated to no significant damage to your carpet.
