Infinity and beyond… - Euro-Pro NV31 Infinity Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum I read the Epinions before I bought this, so I did my homework. This is not a 5 star vacuum, but it is not a piec...

No, not really.

PART 1: After a couple of time cleaning out dust canister the bottom cover which is released to dump contents fell into the garbage when released. What had happened is one of the two tongs which fits into the dust canister and allows the bottom cover to swivel and open had fractured and broke when opening. This bottom part is made of ABS plastic and is not something which can be glued. I left it alone and it just barely hangs on when closed.

PART 2: This piece fits inside of the Dust canister and must be removed and cleaned in addition to the other filters once in a while when the red light appears. This piece is also made of the same color of ABS plastic and has 3 retainers which clip into place when you turn it clockwise or counter to release. I noticed after the second time cleaning it there was 1 of the three retainers missing and when I put it back together another one fell off.

Customer Service Experience:

I just called the customer service number and after trying 5 times I did get to finally sit on hold, but it wasn’t bad, after 6 minutes I did finally talk to someone but had a hard time understanding due to her Middle Eastern accent. After giving her all my info she asked what she could do. I explained I was intending to get some parts covered under the 2 year warranty. I had looked up the part names in the Owner’s Manual and I told her what had broke, she wanted to argue with me about the name of the parts and she had an extremely snotty attitude when I looked up the part again as she requested and repeated what I had already said. Then she said she would be happy to send me out the parts immediately and one would cost $50 and the other $20. I asked if she was charging me for the parts and she said yes. I asked about the warranty and she said the machine is covered for 2 years, not the parts. I asked what that meant and to give me an example of what would be covered, she responded with “the machine”.

Resolution:

I didn’t get the parts. I am just glad I didn’t have to pay $250 for the machine as it was a gift. I would never spend $70 just to repair something which surely will just break again.
